in the 10,000m in Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. She has achieved
excellent results in the Boston Marathon as well as in the Chicago
Marathon in '90s.
She won the Tokyo Half Marathon (1:06:44) with the second best
record in the world in 1999. Then, she finished 8th in the 10,000m
in Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 at 31:14.70.
Beginning in 2000, she has participated in the Sendai Half Marathon
three years in a row. Blessed with hot temperature conditions
in 2002, which was opposite to that of the last year, she took
a large lead and secured three consecutive wins in this event.
She was the first to achieve three consecutive wins in this
event. |

Finishing second in the Berlin
Marathon at 1999 at 2:06:57, the Japan record (at that time),
he generated a buzz in the Marathon community. With a 4th finish
at the Tokyo International Marathon in 2:08:16 (first finish
for a Japanese) in 2000, he was selected to be a member of the
Japan team for Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. He finished 7th
at 2:11:42 in the London Marathon in 2001.
In the Sendai Half Marathon, he was expected to show tenacious
running. However, he saved his energy, as he was on the way
to recovery from an injury, and finished 32nd. We wish him the
best of luck in the future. |

Coming from Canada, he joined
the NEC' Athletics team. He ran the 10,000m in the 2000 Sydney
Olympic Games as a member of the Canadian national team and
came in at 28:30.46. He finished 13th in the same race in the
World Championships Athletics Race the next year at 28:07.06.
In the same year, he finished 7th in the 10,000m in the Cardinals
Invitation Athletics at 27:36.01. He is active in various fields,
participating in the long distance track event in the Ekiden
Road Rally.
In the Sendai Half Marathon, he showed stylish running with
a long stride, and finished 4th. |

in the World Championships in Athletics 2001 and finished 9th
at 32:14.59. In the 5,000m, she timed in at 15:23.93, which
was her personal best. In the Japan Championships, she won the
5,000m as well as the 10,000m races in the same year. She finished
3rd at 2:27:01 in the Osaka International Ladies Marathon. It
was the second finish for a Japanese runner next to Harumi Hiroyama
(Shiseido), whose feat is still fresh in our memories. |

Her first marathon was the
Hokkaido Marathon in 2000 and she finished second at 2:35:10.
She also finished third at the 2001 Osaka International Ladies
Marathon at 2:27:50 (which was the second finish for Japanese).
These performances earned her an invitation to run marathon
in the World Championships Athletics in the same year as a member
of the Japanese team, where she finished 22nd at 2:34:45. In
terms of half marathons, she won the Sanyo Road Race at 1:10:08
in 1998.
In the Sendai Half Marathon, in spite of having a small build,
she kept up with the top group finishing 8th with energetic
running, strong stamina and beautiful form. |

Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 as a national team member.
She timed in at1:08:18 in the Tokyo City Half Marathon in 1997
and has many
achievements in cross-country races. She finished 16th at 2:31:28
in the Nagoya International Women's Marathon in 2001, and finished
8th at 2:29:18 in the Tokyo International Women's Marathon in
the same year.
In the Sendai Half Marathon, she competed with Elana Meyer.
In spite of being left far behind around mid-course, she finished
2nd. |
